The Essentials

Eleven questions we're asked most.

Cleritas builds medico-legally defensible consent for UK aesthetic and ophthalmic practice, through six services: in-person workshops and training days, recurring CPD programmes and events, consent audits scored against Montgomery and McCulloch, done-with-you consent reviews, done-for-you consent systems built end to end, and an ongoing retainer for coaching, document review and complaint first-response support. There is also a DIY tier: treatment-specific consent templates from £30.

Regulated healthcare professionals delivering aesthetic treatments, nurses, doctors, dentists and pharmacist prescribers, plus ophthalmologists and oculoplastic surgeons in NHS and private practice. Nurses are the largest group in UK aesthetics and the core of our community; the ophthalmology programme runs at consultant level.

No. Cleritas provides education, documentation and coaching, not legal advice, and not indemnity. Part of our value is knowing the boundary: when a situation needs your insurer or a solicitor, we tell you plainly and help you brief them well. We are not a law firm and never present ourselves as one.

Not on their own. Consent is a process, a tailored discussion of material risks and reasonable alternatives, with time to reflect. Templates are the documentation layer that proves the process happened. A Cleritas template gives you a far stronger documentation layer than a generic form, but it cannot conduct the consultation for you. For the full system, start with a consent audit or a done-for-you build.

You send us your current consent forms and a description of your consultation and record-keeping process. We score them against Montgomery, McCulloch and the relevant regulator guidance, identify exactly where a claimant solicitor would start, and deliver a written report with prioritised fixes, a document you can also show your insurer. Most practitioners then fix the gaps themselves, or move into a done-with-you or done-for-you rebuild.

The retainer covers ongoing consent coaching, review of your documents as guidance and case law move, and a structured first-response pathway when a complaint arrives, helping you preserve records, draft an appropriate initial response and engage your insurer correctly. It does not cover legal representation, claims handling or indemnity; those remain with your solicitor and insurer, whom we help you use well.

A recurring half-day medico-legal CPD programme for ophthalmologists and oculoplastic surgeons, with solicitor and expert-witness faculty. It focuses on the claims the specialty actually faces, cataract consent and refractive surprise, wrong IOL as a Never Event, failure to warn, and oculoplastic expectation disputes. No regular dedicated conference of this kind currently exists in the UK. Join the waitlist for first access to dates.

The government confirmed a traffic-light licensing scheme in August 2025, committed within this Parliament, with toxin and fillers in the amber tier and the highest-risk procedures in a red tier requiring CQC-registered settings. Consultation on red-tier draft regulations began in June 2026. The sensible preparation now is evidence: a consent process and record-keeping standard you can show a local authority when applications open, which takes months to embed, not days.

Partly. Document services such as template purchases and documentation work are available to non-medics. Our events, workshops, training days and CPD programmes, are for regulated healthcare professionals only. Under the incoming licensing scheme, non-healthcare practitioners performing amber-tier procedures will work under the oversight of a named regulated healthcare professional, and our materials are built around that structure.

Accreditation applications are in progress. We do not claim CPD accreditation before it is granted. Every event is built to CPD documentation standards, learning objectives, reflective records, certificates of attendance, and we will state the exact accreditation position clearly before you book anything.

Refund and cancellation terms differ by service, digital templates, event bookings and retainer agreements each have their own terms, stated clearly before purchase. See our Terms page for the current position, and contact hello@cleritas.co.uk if your situation isn't covered.
